The Middle Child

Characteristics of a middle child:
Flexible
Easy-going
Social
Peacemakers
Independent
Secretive
Strong Negotiators
May feel life is unfair

Jaeg is my jaded middle child. He avoids the camera like the plague and so many of my pictures of him look just like this. He runs with his eyes down so as not to be caught looking at the lens, as seen below!

I find it amazing to watch his quirky personality develop, and I have discovered where the saying boys will be boys comes from. Raising a little girl at 2 was so very different than a little boy at 2. For example he head butts me on a regular basis. He also believes that my couch is a monster to be wrestled, stomped on, and ultimately defeated. That is if you don't topple from it face first onto the floor. He is an enigma in so many ways, with his shy glances, but when this boy smiles he lights up the room!

He may run screaming from the camera, but with each perfect picture I snap it is a bittersweet victory! I know that all too soon he will have outgrown his camera shyness along with his baby fat. With each day he becomes more of a little boy and less of the baby he once was. So as I sit hear thinking about what a little monster he is I reminisce back two years in time and remember his first steps, foods, haircut, and all the in between. Time flies so fast I'm afraid to blink!

The mysterious fever

Do you remember being sick as a child. Laying there thinking you were going to never feel better again, and suddenly you felt better!

My daughter was sick last night! She was fine and then suddenly she started saying mommy my head hurts. Her head was followed by her legs, arms, neck, and stomache. I touched her head and discovered that she had a fever!

She begged me to sleep with her, and of course my heart melted. Sleeping with her is like not sleeping at all. She curled up next to me like a little wriggle worm space heater and I put my head on one of her lumpy hard pillows, no matter how I try to convince her that pillows should be soft she still likes hard ones. My neck ached, my legs ached, my shoulders ached, and she fell asleep. So there I was laying in her bed not daring to move for fear of waking her and I too fell asleep. Sometime in the wee hours of the morning the motrin wore off and she woke up. Yup, I woke up too, and I felt the need for motrin for a whole score of other reasons.

After a long sleepless night the fever seems to have broken and my wigglie little monster is downstairs coloring butterflies. I am upstairs wishing everyone would sleep so I can have a nap too!!!

Now if I can just keep the other two from catching the mysterious fever all will be well!

Picture perfect princess

The Picture Perfect Princess, " My Little Model"
I can't get her to stop posing these days. She puts her hand on her hip or crosses her legs, twirls and then says, "what now mommy".
She is in love with twirly dresses and spins around the house wearing them. When you have two boys and one girl it is inevitable that you end up with a princess. I am reminded of the Stephen Curtis Chapman song Cinderella as I watch her spinning and twirling. All too soon she will be grown up so in this moment I snap picture after picture trying to catch each and every glimpse of the princess, who is growing up before my eyes.

We are of course shopping for spring and all of you know that we love new and exciting brands. So I have to share this new brand that I have discovered with you!

They are called shabby baby and they have beautiful dresses for little girls, mommies, and soon to be mommies.

Here is the dress that I think would be perfect for us, but it was so hard to choose from all their cute stuff, seriously go have a peek, "little girls and girls dresses from shabby baby."http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-82-vineyard.aspx

Getting the hang of this

Do you do seriously goofy things because they make your kids laugh.
We lose a piece of ourselves to our children, but you gain so much in the moments with them.

I dance, in the kitchen, living room, and dining room. We turn on our Brobee toy and then we all dance. I know the neighbors can see us dancing sometimes and I am sure they think we are crazy, but the kids giggle and fall on the floor having so much fun, so who cares if we are the crazy dancing neighbors.

This morning was a very unpleasant awakening at our house!
We were awakened by this loud knock knock knock. I didn't get up right away thinking someone must be at our door. Then my husband told me too make it stop. As the knock knock knock continued. They are building a house behind us so I checked to see if they were nailing, but no. Then I looked out the front door no one was there. Still the knock knock knock continued. So my mom said go look from the sidewalk. There on our roof was a woodpecker. Pecking holes in our brand new siding, our house is less than a year old!

Of course they are a protected species so I can't kill it but I yelled and he flew away!

In the beginning

So today has been a very busy day, I joined a new forum, you too should check it out. Use my username as a reference all of my fashion crazy friends!!!

Then I went ahead and did this! Yup, I have created a blog. Who'd a thunk! I once said blogging was lame, I even wrote a song about how lame, we'll save that for later!

Yes I have created a blog. Who seriously reads these things anyway.
Anyway it seemed like a good idea, at the time. Just like Emily Dickenson here I am reaching out to the unsuspecting few:

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there's a pair of us?
Don't tell! they'd advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one's name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Blog

So admire away!
